Sony (SNE - Annual Report) has announced a November 17, 2006 US launch date for the PlayStation 3, which will put the company just one year behind Microsoft (MSFT - Annual Report) with the next-generation game machines. This is actually an incremental negative for Microsoft, as there had been some rumors that PS3 would be delayed beyond the holiday buying season. Microsoft needs all the help they can get, as the Yankee Group does not expect businesses to start upgrading to the Vista operating system until 2008.
It seems talks between Verizon (VZ) and Vodafone (VOD) are continuing, albeit at a glacial pace.
Intel (INTC - Annual Report) has reorganized its memory chip group, separating the unit from the manufacturing group. The move may indicate plans to sell or spin out the memory business.
Apple (AAPL) is now expected to release its MacBook line next Tuesday.
Hewlett Packard (HPQ - Annual Report) has refreshed its product line with five new business notebooks. In all, it released a total of seven.
The PDA market increased unit sales by 6.6 per cent. It was all about the Blackberry.
