We Gave the Heads-up on Electronics Arts
Although they say “you win some, you lose some,” we are always hoping to be like the ‘72 Dolphins and prove them wrong. However, barring perfection the next objective is to win more than you lose. Therefore, after noting yesterday that we had dropped the ball on Ansys (ANSS), we are happy to note that our juggling act managed to keep a few balls in the air. Case in point, our recent observation that the console battle would benefit game designers:
With consoles heavily subsidized, the gainers in the reheated battle would most likely be the electronics retailers and gaming software firms such as Electronic Arts and Activision (ATVI.)
Electronics Arts is up 12% today on unexpectedly strong sales. We’ll chalk that one up as a win, but there is still a long season ahead.
