Oracle (ORCL) Keeps it Simple
One of the reasons we like Oracle’s (ORCL) consolidation strategy is that businesses want things simplified. This, in fact, is the entire premise behind the push for systems integration. Now, it seems, Oracle is applying the same logic to their pricing structure. ITworld.com – Oracle simplifies pricing model
Oracle Corp. will offer customers a range of simplified licensing models in an attempt to make pricing more consistent across its portfolio of products, developed in-house and acquired from competitors.
Four basic licensing models will be available for all Oracle products, including J.D. Edwards, PeopleSoft and Siebel applications, Oracle said Tuesday. The Component Model offers customers simple a la carte pricing, while the Custom Application Suite Model allows them to create their own bundle of applications based on their specific business needs.
Just as consumers are suspicious of the complex pricing at car dealers and increasingly flock to stores offering everyday low prices, the last thing an enterprise application buyer wants is to be confused by the price of an application before they even buy it.
